I'm new here too and I'm surprised nobody answered this - maybe they replied privately? Seems like anyone can do the challenges - there's nothing in the FAQ about having to be super duper experienced or have hung around chit-chatting for a while
In my experience that's what life is like... we think we have to be special and different in some way, that everyone else knows rules we don't, but really we just have to jump in and then we find out that we're all equals after all!
Can't wait to find out what the first challenge is... guess I'd better check out what I'm meant to be baking in the meantime!
Can't find the private Daring Baker Challenge..... where is it? Does it mean I am not a member yet? How long my name will appear in the daring baker list counting from the date I registered? Anybody, lease advise......
I'm not an administrator, but I emailed about this question a few days ago, so I have an answer. There are cut-off dates for being added to the private forums for the Daring Bakers and Daring Cooks (they're listed in the FAQ), but more importantly, the approval page is acting up right now, so the admin can't add anyone until that's fixed.

same here, i am not able to locate where the private forum is ? and i am not able to know what the challenge is, i do not even know if i am allowed in it ?, lisa, says i am in but, i am sorry i am not able to understand how ? when i tried the link it does not allow me to access and says oops sorry you have not logged in, i signed out and tried again but does not seem to get in!!

WHEN you join and get access (by the methods described in the FAQ and elsewhere), eventually the place WHERE you'll find the private forum is on the Main "Forums" page.
Click the tab at the top called "Forums" and you're taken to a page with a bunch of discussion threads such as "The Trattoria" and "The Bakery," etc. At THE BOTTOM of those threads that anyone can see will be another section, the Private threads that you are looking for. There you'll find the current challenge threads.

I can't seem to locate the Cooks' Challenge either!??? Someone, please advise the newcomers!
As far as I've been able to gather your application needs to be approved before you can see the forums and new challenge.
That being said, I've been a member two days now and have not yet gotten approval.
