If you have a blog, what is your blog name and for how long have you been blogging?

My blog is called Dessert First and I’ve been blogging for about 3 ½ years.

When and why did you join the Daring Bakers?

I joined Daring Bakers in May 2007, and I was also lucky enough to co-host my first challenge with Helen of Tartelette. I was really excited to see baking fans bonding together over the internet, and I wanted to join in on the fun and improve my baking skills as well!

What’s the best part about being a Daring Baker?

Being able to connect with and become inspired by fellow pastry lovers around the world. When I first started my blog, baking-only blogs seemed rare. With Daring Bakers I’ve come to discover so many other people who are into desserts!

Who’s your favourite baker/chef?

Too many favorites to list! My top inspirations would be Dorie Greenspan, Pierre Herme, Emily Luchetti, Sherry Yard, and Kate Zuckerman.

What’s your favourite cookbook?

Claudia Fleming’s The Last Course. It was one of my first “professional” cookbooks and I’m still impressed by the production quality, imaginative desserts, and beautiful photos.

If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring one dessert with you, what would it be?

Tough choice! I would go with opera cake because I’m crazy for multi-component desserts, and the opera cake combines several elements into one really delicious whole.
