I’m a mom of two beautiful girls, and engaged to the most wonderful man in the world.

I live in Canada, and absolutely love it here. I’m proud to be born and raised in the province known as Friendly Manitoba. And friendly we certainly are. By day, I’m a Sales Coordinator for a successful leasing company…But by night, I cook/bake! Whipping up gourmet meals and desserts has become my passion over the passed 3 years. Other hobbies I enjoy are signing (was the signer of a band, and have performed many many times on stage), Pilates, and reading.

How long have you been a Daring Baker/Daring Cook and what’s your favorite thing about being in the group(s) so far?

I’m still a Daring Baker/Cook newbie. I’m on my 3rd challenge, and intend to continue to participate for a very long time to come!

What’s your favorite kitchen gadget? How about your favorite kitchen appliance?

Haha! Good grief, must I choose just one?! Lately, my favorite appliance has been my new mini food processor. But I think deep down, I will always love and cherish most my cast iron skillet that I bought for $10 two years ago! Haha After my bridal shower, my guess is my new fave kitchen tool will end up being a professional chef’s knife, or hands-free mixer (which will undoubtedly end up on my registry!)

Are you known for making a certain dish or dessert? If so, what is it?

I rarely ever re-use a recipe or meal idea to be honest. My blog is for menu planning, and giving new meal ideas. I try my best to keep my readers surprised! That being said, there is ONE thing I must make and have every few weeks…even if it’s just for a late night snack with my fiancé…And that’s French Onion Soup. Mmmmm!

Most people who ask me for recipes, are looking for one of my soup recipes. Cream of Carrot Soup, Cauliflower and Mozza Soup, Zuppa Ribolata…

Is there any recipe and/or technique that we haven’t covered yet that you’d really like to make/learn?

Well, since I’m so new, this is a hard one to answer.

Do you have a favorite movie? Book? Genre of music? Actor? Actress?

I love Anne Rice books! As for music, anything that showcases strong vocals.

You’ve just won $5000.00!!! What would you spend it on?

HAHAH!!! A new kitchen! We’ll be redoing our kitchen in the next few years but winning $5K would certainly expedite our plans to make it happen faster!

What is the ultimate comfort food to you?

My mom’s homemade Mac & Cheese, actually. It’s simply just macaroni mixed with canned diced tomatoes, topped with cheese, then baked.

Which season (Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall) is your favorite.. why?

Summer for sure! I love the heat!

Other than cooking and/or baking.. what hobbies do you enjoy?

Signing, reading, Pilates!

How long have you been blogging? Do you like it? What’s your favorite post you’ve written?

Since early December 2009.

What’s your favorite cookbook for desserts/baking? What’s your favorite cookbook for savory/cooking?

Both would be Curtis Stone recipe books. He has a great array of both savory cooking and dessert recipes.

Is there one food that you seriously dislike/hate? If so, which is it and why?

I’m not the biggest fan of Italian food actually. I’m just not into the really hearty, heavy pastas. I don’t mind it occasionally, but I can’t have it that often. Aside from that, I really dislike candy. Suckers, hard candy, taffy…blargh!

What’s your favorite flower and/or plant?

Calla Lilies, sunflowers, and lilacs.

Do you have a favorite local restaurant? If so, why is it your favorite and what kind of food is served there?

Sushi Train, Ichiban, and Mirlycourtois.

Who taught you how to cook and/or bake?

I taught myself.

What’s your favorite holiday and why?

New Years day…we treat it as a family day…no guests, just my fiancé and our kids. I always prepare a fancy meal and dessert and we just enjoy spending the day together in our pjs.

Reading any good books lately? Which ones?!

Yup, just finished reading Lasher, by Anne Rice.

You’ve had a rough week. How do you relax after a rough week?

I take a bath, and read.

Where is your favorite vacation (holiday) destination?

Anywhere down south where it’s hot and has a nice beach. But my heart will always love Dublin because that was my first vacation with my fiancé.

What is your favorite cooking/food related magazine? Why?

Everyday Food (Martha Stewart). I’m not a fan of Martha, herself, but I like the magazine. Other than that, I absolutely love Ricardo’s food magazine. They don’t print it in English anymore, but luckily, I’m fluent in French, so it’s all good!

Do you have a food addiction?

Chocolate, and plain chips. *blush*

What did you eat for dinner last night? Did you prepare it or someone else?

I made Stuffed Pasta Shells…So good!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Eating chocolate chips mixed with peanut butter, just like that. Lol

What kind of colors do you like? Pastels? Earth tones? Brights? Neons? Etc.

Definitely earth tones look best with my skin tone, but I like deep saturated colors.

If you had the choice of a free kitchen, bathroom, living room or bedroom makeover – which would you choose and why?

Kitchen all the way…without even thinking twice about it. I love to cook/bake, and I want a nice cozy space to do it in.

The Martha – Angel of Domestication or Minion of Evil? Why?

HAHA! As per my answer to #21, minion of evil! hahaha

Not at all actually.

What’s your favorite “sweet” spice? How about your favorite “savory” spice?

I absolutely cannot choose! Lol

Saffron, parsley, or cilantro.

Do you have a time saving kitchen tip you’d like to share with us?

As fun as it might be to chop veggies by hand, I save tons of time using my food processor to chop for me. Lol.
