I’m a pharmacy student from Slovenia and I’m 19 years old. I started baking one year ago...

...because I wanted to do something creative - there’s nothing creative in studying pharmacy Sad. Then, six months later, I started my blog to keep track of all the recipes I try - with pictures. I really enjoy baking and eating cakes, especially chocolate ones. I love traveling and my biggest wish is to live and study (and eventually work) somewhere out of my country, especially in the USA, Britain or maybe Germany. I hope I’ll be able to accomplish this goal once in my near future.

How long have you been a Daring Baker/Daring Cook and what’s your favorite thing about being in the group(s) so far?

I’ve been a Daring Baker for three months and I love it! My favorite thing is that I would never try those recipes by myself because they seem so complicated, but now that I’m forced to, I learn so many new things every month that I otherwise wouldn’t!

What’s your favorite kitchen gadget? How about your favorite kitchen appliance?

My favorite gadget is my plastic spatula. I bought it last year because it was mentioned in the cookbooks so many times and it has made my life so much easier! No more dough leftovers in the bowl! It’s awesome! My favorite kitchen appliance is my hand mixer. And that’s just because I don’t have a stand mixer (yet). I just like how it mixes things. I once attempted to mix some kind of a cookie dough by hand and it was...painful.

Are you known for making a certain dish or dessert? If so, what is it?

I suppose I’m known for making chocolate cakes, because 99% of the cakes that I bake are chocolate, so that’s what people expect from me.

Is there any recipe and/or technique that we haven’t covered yet that you’d really
like to make/learn?

I would really like to learn how to make croissants and Baked Alaska. I’m too scared to try to make them on my own!

Do you have a favorite movie? Book? Genre of music? Actor? Actress?

I don’t really have one favorite movie, because there are so many! I loved Inglorious Basterds, Requiem for a Dream, Wicker Park, Inception...and many more. It’s the same with books. My favorite genres of music are alternative rock and indie - my favorite bands are 30 Seconds to Mars, Muse, Placebo, Arcade Fire, Florence and the Machine, and the Killers. My favorite actors are Jared Leto and Leonardo DiCaprio, while I don’t have a favorite actress.

You’ve just won $5000.00!!! What would you spend it on?

I would go traveling! I’ve always wanted to see the whole USA, but the expensive plane tickets make it very difficult.

What is the ultimate comfort food to you?

Rice, cooked in milk, with chocolate powder. I always eat it when I’m sad. It doesn’t make me any happier, but it tastes REALLY good.

Which season (Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall) is your favorite.. why?

Summer, because of the summer holidays - no school! Also, I live really close to the beach and I can go there every day. And I love light summer clothes (I have a lot of them), so I love every occasion to wear them!

Other than cooking and/or baking.. what hobbies do you enjoy?

Most of the time, I’m too busy to have any hobbies. But I love reading, going to the movies and watching tv shows - I watch more than 20!

How long have you been blogging? Do you like it? What’s your favorite post you’ve written?

I’ve been blogging since december 2009.

What’s your favorite cookbook for desserts/baking? What’s your favorite cookbook for savory/cooking?

My favorite baking cookbook is The Whimsical Bakehouse, because it’s filled with cute cakes and edible decorations. I don’t have a favorite cooking cookbook, because I don’t cook (yet).

Who taught you how to cook and/or bake?

I taught myself - by reading cookbooks and experimenting.

Where is your favorite vacation (holiday) destination?

My favorite cities are Barcelona and London, but my favorite destination for a true holiday is Egypt - Sharm el Sheikh.

Do you have a food addiction?

Yes. Nutella - I can’t get enough of it.

What did you eat for dinner last night? Did you prepare it or someone else?
I ate cereal and I prepared it by myself - as usual.

If you had the choice of a free kitchen, bathroom, living room or bedroom makeover – which would you choose and why?

I would choose a free kitchen, because that way I would get all the expensive appliances that I want so much!

The Martha – Angel of Domestication or Minion of Evil? Why?

Angel of Domestication or even better - a God.
