Caramel Macchiato Petit Fours
This was actually a very easy challenge for me, comparatively at least. I've made browned butter before (mmm, pasta sauce!) so the pound cake was simple, and oh good gravy, it was delicious. I made ice cream just last month for the first time, and without an ice cream maker. It's not that hard, and not really time consuming - just a few minutes at a time for a few hours.
The only part I was worried about was the chocolate glaze, or ganache. I stink at covering things in chocolate. Absolutely rotten at it. And this had ice cream - the chocolate had to be warm enough to pour, but not so hot as to melt the ice cream. Arrgghh! But in spite of myself, it turned out better than I expected, and the results were delicious. Even my husband, who doesn't like dessert much, was impressed.
