By registering you are agreeing to the following which is true for both the Daring Bakers and the Daring Cooks. Registration DOES NOT mean you are automatically joining one or both of the groups unless you designated the group(s) you want to join on the registration form or later from your user profile. You can register for The Daring Kitchen without joining a group and still be able to use the public forums and view our other site content. There are some changes below – to our present members, please note there are changes regarding the reveal date for the DB, non-blogging member changes and of course the new Daring Cooks challenge recipe announcement and challenge reveal dates:
  1. You have to participate in at least 8 out of 12 challenges for every calendar year that you're a member. Your calendar year starts the month you join.
  2. You cannot miss more than 2 challenges in a row (unless you leave a comment in the designated thread on the private forums with a good reason. We do not need specifics, just let us know that life or whatever is going to get in the way for a month or two) or you will be taken off the blogroll and out of the private forums- we do not warn you when this happens, it's your responsibility to keep track.
  3. We bake/cook one recipe a month and we all bake/cook the same exact recipe - no changes unless they are the exclusions listed in the official guidelines – health (gluten-free, lactose intolerant, allergies, etc.), religion (self explanatory) & lifestyle needs (vegan, vegetarian, raw, etc.).. cost prohibitive and hard to find ingredients.. modifications allowed by the hostess/host. Note that if you make any changes due to the exclusions above you MUST stay within the spirit of the challenge.. if the recipe calls for a white sauce that includes an ingredient(s) you can’t have, you must still make a white sauce with ingredients you can have.
  4. You are agreeing that you understand that no recipes are ever E-MAILED. You are responsible for logging on to the private forums AT LEAST ONCE to find out what the challenge recipe is. Daring Bakers challenges are always announced on the 1st (sometimes very rarely on the 2nd) of the month in the Daring Bakers PRIVATE forum. The Daring Bakers challenge reveal date will always be on the 27th of each month. The Daring Cooks challenges are always announced on the month PRIOR and always on the 17th in the Daring Cooks PRIVATE forum. For example, the April challenge will be posted on March 17th, the May challenge will be posted on April 17th etc. The Daring Cooks challenge reveal date will always be on the 14th of the month. For example, the April challenge reveal date will be April 14th, the May challenge reveal date will be May 14th etc.
  5. You MUST keep challenges a secret. What we mean by that is, we don't discuss the challenge recipe on our personal blogs or with any other blogger (other than DB/DC members and never in a public forum) until the designated day for posting.
  6. We all post our finished challenges on the same exact day - which is designated by that month's hostess/host. If you cannot participate on the designated day, post late NOT EARLY.. and we'd appreciate it if you could let us know that you will be late, by leaving a comment in the private challenge recipe forum.
  7. Your blog name and its address MUST be included in all e-mail correspondence and Daring Kitchen forum posts/comments - We just have too many members to keep track on a first name basis, so please PRETTY PLEASE give us clues as to who you are. :)
  8. If you are a non-blogging member, all rules apply to you the same as they would to our blogging members. If you have no plans on participating, then please don’t join. As of 3/7/09 we are still accepting your write-up with digital photos through e-mail (lamiacucina@adelphia.net and creampuffsinvenice@gmail.com), but this will be changing soon.
  9. About a month after the grand opening of The Daring Kitchen, all non-blogging members MUST upload their write-up and digital photographs to a section we are creating especially for you. :)
