Hi Daring Kitcheniters of the World, my name is Lisa, and I live in QLD Australia. I’m married with a…

…5 year old boy and a 4 month old girl. I grew up half in Australia and Half in Japan. I’ve spent sometime in South America and Europe. All of this has influenced my cooking, making it a hodgepodge of everything. My twenty year plan involves living on a yacht and travelling around the world exploring different cuisines.

How long have you been a Daring Baker/Daring Cook and what’s your favorite thing about being in the group(s) so far?

I’ve been a daring cook/baker for about a month now, and completed one challenge: (http://blueberrygirlinoz.blogspot.com/2009/08/daring-cooks-august-challe…)

My favourite thing about this place is being pushed to do things I would shy away from. To embrace cooking from all over the world, not just the styles and flavours I tend to stick with.

What’s your favorite kitchen gadget? How about your favorite kitchen appliance?

My favourite kitchen appliance is the, coffee machine –without I wouldn’t be awake to use the other ones. I would love a cherry red retro mixer though.

Which season (Winter, Summer, Spring, Fall) is your favorite.. why?

Winter, is my favourite season. Here in Australia because it’s like an American summer; and in the northern hemisphere, because there’s crisp snow under my feet and bright sunshine. The perfect weather for; hot chocolates, warm filling dishes and baking sweet smelling items.

How long have you been blogging? Do you like it? What’s your favorite post you’ve written?

I’ve been blogging for about 5 years now. I started when I was overseas and pregnant as a way for my family to stay up to date. I recently started a food only blog, after requests from my friends, for recipes.

Aside from chocolate for most of us, do you have a food addiction?

My food addictions change from week to week, my most recent craze was babycakes, the perfect bite sized food. My ultimate comfort foods are warm and smooth ie: mashed potatoes, cheesy polenta, warm chocolate cake.

Are you known for making a certain dish or dessert? If so, what is it?

My favourite type of food to eat would have to be Tapas and Cocktails, anytime/anywhere. Luckily I live in a climate where we do a lot of outdoor entertaining, so I get to indulge in these pursuits regularly. I’m famous for my BBQ’s – Grilled meats and salads, with a rich usually chocolate something for desert.

I’m currently trying to balance my love of cooking good food, with getting healthy. So I’m trying to limit my indulgences to my once monthly Bakers Challenge. It also gives me a great opportunity to invite people over, and get them excited about new food.

So that’s pretty much me, I read a lot, cook a lot, watch movies when I can and just generally enjoy life.
