Non-Blogging Members' Posting Instructions

Hey ya'll.. great news!

We now have an in-house home for all of our non-blogging members! You can read their challenge posts RIGHT HERE!

For our non-blogging members, please follow the directions below to submit your challenge posts.

  • On your side bar you'll find your personal menu. Please click on the option that says "Create Content"
  • Click on the option that says "Reveal"
  • Enter the title of your post in the first box
  • Either type your post in the main editor box, or copy/paste it from where you originally wrote it (MSWord, notepad, etc.) You can write as much or as little as you'd like. If you can upload photos, you can include as many or just a couple.. it's entirely up to you.

Feel free to experiment with the buttons on top of the editing box.. you'll see there is a B button for BOLD, an I button for ITALIC, there are buttons to make a numeric list and a bulleted list. The "H1, H2 & H3" buttons are for headings.. they make the words you

designate (H1)

bigger than (H2)

the normal text. (H3)

And on a line by themselves.

A great one is the "Teaser Break" button, it's the one with an A on top and a B on the bottom.. this breaks up your post, so that only a "teaser" shows on the main non-blogger's page (instead of most of your entire post). Put your cursor where you want the post to break apart at, then click the button.

Other than the teaser button, the rest of the buttons work in the same way..

Highlight the text you want bold, italic, or bigger and then click the corresponding button.

You'll need each sentence you want numbered or bulleted to be separate from the rest of your text for the numbers or bullets to work, but same thing - highlight it all then click the button you want. Like this -

Lisa likes to write really long instructions.
She's afraid she won't make sense to anyone else but herself.
She should be outside right now because it's sunny and warm and KICK ASS.

If you want to add a hyper-link to your post.. for example:

You can visit the list of Daring Kitchen members' blogs HERE

So you'd type out (minus quotes) "You can visit the list of Daring Kitchen members' blogs HERE", then you'd highlight the word HERE and then click the icon at the top that looks like a purple planet with a chain link in front of it. In the box that says "Link href" you'd either type or paste the webpage URL (for example: http://thedaringkitchen.com/member-blogs) then click OK. When you go back to the editor it will show the code for the hyper-link. When you hit SUBMIT after you are satisfied with your post, you'll just see the word "HERE" in a different color, but when you put your cursor on the word you'll see you can click it to visit the designated web page. Smile

  • Once you are finished writing and are satisfied, you can insert your photos. Place the cursor in the spot where you want the photo, then...
  1. Click on the first icon on the left at the top of the editor box (looks like a sunset {I think?})
  2. Click the BROWSE button
  3. When the upload window opens, click BROWSE on the bottom of the page.
  4. Locate your photo on your hard drive and click it once to hightlight, then click OPEN
  5. Next make sure that the "SCALE IF NECESSARY" box IS checked, then click the UPLOAD on the bottom of
  6. the upload window.
  7. Once it says it's been uploaded successfully, click on the actual photo to continue.
  8. This will bring you back to the first small window. You have choices here..
  • A- You can click OK and the photo will be placed flush with the left margin and your text will be below it.
  • B- In the box designated for POSITION - you can type in "floatleft" which means that your photo will be flush with the left margin, but your text will wrap around it on the right. Or you can type "floatright" and your photo will be flush with the right margin and your text will wrap around on the left.

Finally, click OK

When you get back to the editing box, you won't see your photos. Once you click SUBMIT (after you are happy with what you've created) you'll be able to see your photos.

Keep in mind, clicking SUBMIT isn't the end all.. if you read through and don't like something, simply click on the EDIT button and edit your post. You can do this as many times as you'd like.

You'll notice that after you click submit, your post will not show with the rest of the non-blogging members' posts. It will go into a queue and stay there until we can go in and actually publish it for you. This means, you can write up your post anytime during the month and then be done with it.. and we'll come in on the official reaveal date and publish for you.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Smile

xoxo

I don't see the reveal option under 'create content'...is there something I need to do before I try to post?

You have to click on the non-bloggers link first, from there click on create content link and then you will find the reveal button. Hope this helps.
